Grab rails and cleats

Before

The original grab rails and cleats are made of teak so they are pretty dry and gray. Took them all off, sanded them properly and applied many layers of teak oil. Some say you should definitely put varnish on them, others say oil is enough and can be added when needed. I’ll try with only oil for this season, let’s see how it goes.

The cleats I did put varnish on, 7-8 layers and they look nice.

Helmsman’s seat

The helmsman’s seat’s leather was quite badly worn and stained so we decided to replace it. We bought 1,5m of blue synthetic leather and due to a small measurement error made it a bit of a tight fit but the end result was good.

This blog is about the adventures and maintenance of a motorboat of the model Albin 25. The boat in question is built in 1970 with the serial number 465 and came to us in 2018 and was renamed to Skumpan. The engine is a dieseldriven Perkins Perama M20 with 18 horsepowers. The cruising speed is about 6 knots, the max speed is not much more than that, about 6,5 knots.

We have basically no experience in boating nor maintenance of a boat but hopefully we’ll learn while doing.
